The Third “Y Show”
Macau Art Graduates Joint Exhibition

“Y Show”, the Macau Art Graduates Joint Exhibition, is organised by Chiu Yeng Cultural and Creative Industry Association (“Chiu Yeng Culture”) and co-organised by Chiii Design Ltd. (“Chiii Design”). It displays a collection of works from local and overseas art graduates and aims to provide an opportunity for graduates to showcase their talents. This is also a platform for young artists to interact and stimulate their innovative ideas, at the same time, assist in the building up of international arts and cultural exchange channel to enhance Macau in becoming the Art Capital for young artists. “Y Show” invites well–known local and international design specialists as the assessment committee to select ten Outstanding Awards as recognition to the graduates for their efforts.

Besides, the third “Y Show”, with newly introduction of business and commercial elements into the event, aims to provide employment opportunities for young talents and also to provide a broader connecting platform for entrepreneurs to engage with the emerging and traditional commercial industries, so as to foster moderate economic diversification.

  • Outstanding Award

    To encourage and support young artists on their efforts and enhance their confidence towards their future creation, the third “Y Show” continues to establish the Outstanding Award. An Assessment Committee will be formed by well–known local and international design specialists to select the top ten outstanding art works in the exhibition. The Award Ceremony will be held on 14th October (Sunday), to announce and present the Outstanding Award to the winners.

    Famous designers from Macau and overseas are invited to the seminar as guest speakers to share their experience in creation. This provides an opportunity for young artists to communicate and explore the creative industry from a wider perspective.

  • About CYC

    Chiu Yeng Cultural and Creative Industry Association (“Chiu Yeng Culture”) is a non-profit organisation in Macau SAR. The association is established with the aim to promote in cultural and creative industry of Macau.

    The association organizes various types of cultural, creative and artistic activities to bring together Macau and foreign cultural and creative industry professionals to promote exchanges and cooperation in the development of cultural and creative industries in Macau. Being a designer of post-80s, he carries all symbols of this era – rebellious, special, rigorous and precise, tightly connected with the current fashionable elements. “Not being a slave to traditional design, and not being a follower of mass aesthetic trend; go beyond himself.” This is his belief.

His masterpieces have received impressive awards globally, including 2015 National Champion of Chinese Design Elites, person of the year of China Jintang Prize, The Best Office Space Design Award of 2016 China Jintang Prize, the youngest Asian new face who has won the ”Andrew Marin” Award, USA IIDA Global Excellence Awards, China Outstanding Youth Designer of 40 under 40, and was listed in Sina China Interior Design New Force National list, 2017 Germany Red Dot Award and IF Design Award, Global Architizer A+ Design Award, Italy A’Design Award, Gold Award of London Design Award, American Architecture Prize, American INTERIOR Best of year, Gold Award of Creative Office Project, USA IIDA Global Excellence Awards, and Taiwan TID Space Design Award.

He had been invited to be the guest speaker for Milan Design Week, London Inchbald Design College, Peking University, and Andrew Martin’s forum.

Collector, Top Influential Chinese Designer by Forbes, Guest professor of Tongji University. A former employee in Siemens’ Munich design headquarter, Jamy Yang received master degree of industrial design from Germany with full scholarship of WK Foundation after a 7-year study in Zhejiang University and China Academy of Art.

Jamy’s dedication to design has brought him international recognition, nearly a hundred design awards including Red Dot, iF, G-Mark, IDEA and DFA Silver etc. He has been listed as the “Top Influential Chinese Designer” on Forbes. He founded YANG DESIGN in 2005, today the most forward-thinking design consultancy in China. In 2013, he established China’s first private industrial design museum—YANG DESIGN MUSEUM. In 2015, he started to build a lifestyle brand “YANG HOUSE” and contribute in Chinese traditional craftsmanship’s redesign and revival. With a combination of German logic thinking and Chinese humanistic spirit, Jamy has formed his own design philosophy and become partner with renowned global brands including Boeing, Audi,Bosch, NATUZZI, Coke Cola, Steelcase, Issey Miyake, Swatch, etc, projects covering cross categories from glasses and suitcases, consumer electronics, home products to airplane cabin. A series of CSR projects working with NGOs like Green Peace, One Foundation and Animals Asia Foundation presents his belief of taking up social responsibilities as the role a designer.

“Can design change the society?” This has been a challenging issue that he has been committed into action.

Tommy is the brand designer/consultant for the generation renowned for his “Black Humor” and “Audacious Visual” designs.  His design philosophy is to create influential design in the market and show the value of designer.

Graduated from the School of Design in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Tommy has received over 580 awards. “New Weekly” collaborated with “Design 360” and “life style academy” selected Tommy as one of the top 20 China’s most powerful designer appealing to market (graphic design).

Over the years, he was the member of judge panels of most international competitions, such as iF Design Award, D&AD Award, Global Design Award, Hong Kong International Poster Triennial, Golden Pin Design Award and etc.

Tommy Li’s has brought remarkable success to his major clients included Hang Seng Bank, MTR Corporation, Maxim’s Caterers, Chow Sang Sang Holdings International Ltd, Taetea Group, Dairy Farm Group (First Choice), Honeymoon Dessert, Ying Kee Tea House, HKPC, Shanghai Watch and etc.

Henry Chu is a designer, programmer, and new media artist. He was born in Hong Kong in the 1970s. Henry graduated from the Electrical and Computer Engineering programme at the University of Auckland and founded pill & pillow in 2004.

The independent studio has won more than 120 local and international awards including Cannes Lions, Webby and One Show, etc. His iPad music app “Squiggle” was exhibited in MoMA New York. Henry was also a speaker at the Business of Design Week, TED x Kowloon and TED x Taipei.

The founder of Chiii Design Ltd., a new generation of branding designer in Macau. In his early stage of career, he worked in several advertising agencies like Grey Worldwide in Shanghai and Leo Burnett, involving in the production of numerous large-scale, international commercials. Afterwards, he was invited to work in other regions like Portugal on a variety of designs for commercial brands and cultural projects. Returning to Macau in 2011, he has become a branding design lecturer at the Macao Polytechnic Institute. In 2012, he created Chiii Design with Nono Leong Chi Hang, focusing on brand image and cultural design.

Specialised in integrating commercial elements with arts and culture, Chiii Design provides consultancy services on branding and design with a particular focus in fields of brand image, packaging and advertising design. It is one of the few design teams that has presence in the markets of Hong Kong, Mainland China, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada and South East Asia at the same time.

The masterpieces of Chiii Design have won more than 200 awards in exhibitions of over 10 countries and regions, including the International Poster Biennial in Mexico; the Biennial of Poster Bolivia (BICeBe); the International Poster and Graphic Design Festival in Chaumont of France; Golden Bee – Moscow International Biennial of Graphic Design; the International Lahti Poster Triennial; the One Show in the United States; the China International Poster Biennial; the Hong Kong International Poster Triennial; Hong Kong Designers Association’s Global Design Competition; GDC – Graphic Design in China; and the Macau Design Biennial.

Sabrina Ho Chiu Yeng had lived and studied in the United Kingdom for many years, she is a young entrepreneur and holds a Bachelor of Art Degree from the University of Hong Kong. She is the Founder and the Managing Director of Chiu Yeng Culture, the Director and Chief Executive Officer of Poly Auction Macau Limited and at the same time as a strategic partner of UNESCO. She is the Project Manager of the upcoming hotels that are to be built in Macau – the Palazzo Versace and Karl Lagerfeld Hotel, while managing and operating two boutique hotels of the family business in Hong Kong and Macau. She actively organises various types of arts and cultural activities, and aims to promote the development of Asian arts and culture, at the same time developing young artists from different sectors.

She believes that culture transcends generations and national borders, and brings inspiration and hope. She is keen to promoting the integration of arts into daily life and look forward to further collaborations to contribute to the broader community to strengthen the foundation of urban culture, and promote arts and cultural development.

She has a great influence in the Chinese art market and has been ranked number 17 on the 2015 Top 100 Global Chinese Art Market Man by Yi Dan China and Art Nova 2015 by Art Power 100. In April 2016, she has been invited to be one of the featured speakers at the 19th Annual Harvard China Forum and at the same month, she was named as one of the potential Asia’s Power Businesswomen in the year to come in Forbes Asia.
