Chiu Yeng Culture Successfully Held the First “Y Show” Attracts over a hundred enterprises and schools, and contributes to the local cultural and creative industry

(2nd October 2016 – Macau) “Y Show”, organised by Chiu Yeng Culture Limited (“Chiu Yeng Culture”) and co-organised by Chiii Design Ltd. (“Chiii Design”), held the Award Ceremony at the Regency Art Hotel on 2nd October, which draws the First Macau Art Graduates Joint Exhibition to a perfect end. The Award Ceremony has the pleasure to have invited Mr. Leong Heng Teng, President of the Administrative Council of the Cultural Industries Fund; Mr. Katsumi Asaba, Mr. Jianping He, and Mr. Fons Matthias Hickmann of the “Y Show” international assessment committee; Ms. Sabrina Ho Chiu Yeng and Mr. Mann Lao, “Y Show” Curators; Ms. Angela Leong On Kei, Vice President of Dr. Stanley Ho Foundation; Mr. Wallus Leung, Marketing Services Director of Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A.; Mr. Mike Chiu, Sales & Marketing Manager of Sociedade de Lotarias e Apostas Mútuas de Macau, Lda., Mr. Alex An, Representative of Jin Yi Cheng; and Mr. Billy Choi, Representative of Powerlong Art and Culture Group to witness the announcement of the Outstanding Award winners. The international assessment committee selected the top 10 outstanding artworks and honoured the students with the Outstanding Award to show recognition and encouragement, and to applaud the young creators for their creativity and encourage them to join the design-related industry. The winners of the Outstanding Award are (in no particular order): Lei Ka I of Macao Polytechnic Institute; Lai Yiu Sing of Hong Kong Designers Association; Gao Xiang, Liu Senhan, Mi Xin, Tu Weiyang, Wen Richeng of Macau University of Science and Technology; Kazuyuki Yumigeta of Kuwasawa Design School; Kyle Chet Ahmet of Kuwasawa Design School; Cheong Un Teng of Macao Polytechnic Institute; Zheng Wen Jie of Macau University of Science and Technology; Saori Shiroshita of Berlin University of the Arts; Leong Chi Hang of Macao Polytechnic Institute; and Shi Rundong, Huang Qiwen, Lin Wenbiao of Macau University of Science and Technology.

 

During the joint exhibition, six seminars were held, and invited the “Y Show” assessment committee, entrepreneurs and famous designers from different industries as seminar guest speakers to share their experience and creation story. The six seminars, which enable design enthusiasts to understand more about creative thinking and design, attracted a total audience number of 500.

 

The joint exhibition has the pleasure to host visits from numerous local schools, including City University of Macau, School of the Nations, Our Lady of Fatima Girls’ School, Tong Nam Middle School, the International School of Macao, Guang Da Middle School, Xinhua Middle School, Escola Luso-chinesa Técnico-profissional, Pui Va Middle School, Sheng Kung Hui Chiu Kou School Macau, Chan Sui Ki Perpetual Help College, Escola Tong Sin Tong, Kao Yip Middle School, and Colégio Estrela do Mar.

 

The exhibition also offers an opportunity for international large enterprises and designers to discover young potential design talents, and offers a direct job opportunity for fresh graduates. The enterprises are:

Mr. Katsumi Asaba, legendary Japanese designer, commented, “I am very glad to attend “Y Show” and being one of the assessment committee members. This is the first time I participate in Macau’s design event as a member of the assessment committee. I feel honoured to share my experience with so many design enthusiasts. The Macau city has a blend of both Chinese and Western culture, and has a rich cultural background. By examine some of the student’s art work I found that there are potential creative students. I believe ‘Y Show’ is a success since they have introduced different overseas institutions with different cultural backgrounds to join the event and this surely can stimulate students to develop and enhance their creative mindset.”

 

Shi Rundon of Macau University of Science and Technology, one of the “Y Show” Outstanding Award winners, expressed, “I feel so excited to be selected as one of the award winners by the international assessment committee. The award from these famous designers is a huge recognition to me. I feel glad that Macau finally has a joint exhibition showcasing work from different institutes; this is a platform I have always been looking for. I hope Macau can offer more similar platforms like “Y Show”, which enable direct interaction between students and entrepreneurs and well-known designers to enhance our creative knowledge and also create a better future for the young creators.”
