The Fourth “Y Show” Successfully Held Support the diversified development of Macau culture and build a dream workshop for the new generation

(6th September, 2019 – Macau) The fourth “Y Show” is organised by Chiu Yeng Cultural and Creative Industry Association (“Chiu Yeng Culture”), held the Opening and Award Ceremony at Regency Art Hotel on 6th September. Esteemed guests from the community, including Mr. Xin Jianbo, Deputy Director of Department of Publicity and Culture of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Ms. Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of Macao Government Tourism Office; Ms. Leong Wai Man, Vice President of Cultural Affairs Bureau; Mr. Leong Heng Teng, President of the Administrative Council of the Cultural Industries Fund; Mr. Lau Wai Meng, Acting Director of the Economic Bureau; Mr. Leong I On, Head of Division of Secondary and Vocational Technical Education of Education and Youth Affairs Bureau; Ms. Angela Leong, Member of Macau Legislative Assembly and Vice President of Dr. Stanley Ho Foundation; Mr. Bernard Yiu, Senior Consultant of Marketing of Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A.; Mr. Mann Lao, Founder of the “Y Show”; and Dr. Jianping He, Curator of the 4th “Y Show” to kick off the opening ceremony. Together with Ms. Connie Kong, Vice President of Chiu Yeng Cultural and Creative Industry Association were invited to witness the kick-off and the announcement of the Outstanding Award winners, Sponsorship Award winners and Innovative Entrepreneurship Award winner of the fourth “Y Show”.

Ms. Angela Leong, Member of Macau Legislative Assembly and Vice President of Dr. Stanley Ho Foundation, commented that the “Y Show” has now been widely recognized throughout Greater Bay Area, Asia and Overseas after holding the annual event for three consecutive years. This year, “Y Show” also participates in the “Art Macao: International Art Exhibition”, a mega international arts and culture event launched by the Macao SAR Government with the theme “ART • Appreciation • Legacy” collaborated by SJM. Through the influence of “Y show”, we hope to continue to promote and develop the culture of Macau, to inspire the unlimited potential of young people, to enable more companies and corporate entities to see the creative power of the youngsters and contribute to the diversity of Macau economy, this was also the goal of “Y Show”. Ms. Leong thanked all generous support from the community and she hopes that “Y Show” can continue to foster creativity and inspirations to the society, and encourage young people for their career development in creative industry.

The fourth “Y Show” take place from 5th September 2019 to 8th September 2019 in Regency Art Hotel. Bringing together five local universities and institutes, including University of Macau, Macao Polytechnic Institute, Macau University of Science and Technology, University of Saint Joseph, and City University of Macau. Eleven overseas exhibitors, including Federation of Hong Kong Industries, Design Council of Hong Kong, National Taiwan Normal University, Central Academy of Fine Arts, China Academy of Art, Shantou University, Kuwasawa Design School, Kyungsung University, The Basel School of Design, FHNW Academy of Art and Design, Institute of Visual Communication, Berlin University of the Arts and Bauhaus University Weimar. Displaying graduation works from four main categories, including 22 pieces of product design, 16 pieces of spatial and architecture design, 46 pieces of visual communication design and 5 pieces of digital media design, presenting a total of 89 pieces of art works.

Create new milestones for young design talents and artists

The fourth “Y Show” has established awards to encourage and support young design talents and artists, the winners of the Outstanding Award of “Y Show” are (in no particular order): Liu Shih Hua of Macao Polytechnic Institute; Luo Xiwen of Macau University of Science and Technology; Jin Yuming, Wang Ruoming, Wen Haosong of Macau University of Science and Technology; Ginger Chen, Scott Yu, Chris Lin of Macau University of Science and Technology; Lam Hoi Ian, Feng Huijun of City University of Macau; Kae of City University of Macau; Bao Yuanyang of China Academy of Art; Zhan Danping of Central Academy of Fine Arts; Liu Siqi of Central Academy of Fine Arts; Deng Xiaoxu of Shantou University.

The fourth “Y Show” continues to establish the Sponsorship Award. 10 sponsors each presented the Sponsorship Award to the best art work of their choice as a recognition and support to the students. The winners of the Sponsorship Award of “Y Show” are (in no particular order): Zhu Moning, Chen Yuying, Wu Bingjie of Macau University of Science and Technology; Liu Yiying of Macau University of Science and Technology; Bruce of Macau University of Science and Technology; Xu Nian of Macau University of Science and Technology; Xiang Xinxuan of Macau University of Science and Technology; Bi Biying, Ye Xinwei, Zeng Yewei of City University of Macau; Li Yi Wah of Design Council of Hong Kong & Federation of Hong Kong Industries; Xie Guijie of Shantou University; Sandell of Shantou University; Wen Kai-Shiang, Chen Kuan-Jung, Chang Ai-Mei, Kuo Yi-Chen of National Taiwan Normal University. The winner of the Innovative Entrepreneurship Award of “Y Show” is Ginger Chen, Scott Yu, Chris Lin of Macau University of Science and Technology, the award winner will be given the opportunity to be paired with an enterprise and produce a commercial product to promote design and commercial integration.

In order to provide an effective platform for enterprises to explore outstanding creative talents and artists of Macau, the fourth “Y Show” gained support and participation from local and neighbouring areas. At the same time, the fourth “Y Show” received support from several local schools and associations to raise the local students’ awareness of creative design and art, so as to cultivate the development of creative and artistic talents in the future.

An effective showcase platform was provided for the design graduates and young artists by holding “Y Show”. “Y Show” bringing together five local universities and institutes and eleven overseas exhibitors to present a total of 89 pieces of art works. This year, “Y Show” also participates in the “Art Macao: International Art Exhibition”, a mega international arts and culture event launched by the Macao SAR Government with the theme “ART • Appreciation • Legacy” collaborated by SJM and will be displayed at Grand Lisboa Hotel after “Y Show”.

The fourth “Y Show” is strongly supported by various enterprises and organisations, with the endeavour to support the local cultural and creative industry.
