The Third “Y Show” and “6075 Macau Hotel Art Fair” Kicks Off Host a magnificent annual Design and Art event in Macau

(11th October, 2018 – Macau) The third “Y Show” is organised by Chiu Yeng Cultural and Creative Industry Association (“Chiu Yeng Culture”), and co-organised by Chiii Design Ltd. (“Chiii Design”), the third “6075 Macau Hotel Art Fair” is organised by Chiu Yeng Culture and co-organised by Poly Auction Macau Limited. These two exhibitions held their grand opening ceremony at Regency Art Hotel on 11th October, 2018. Government officials, esteemed guests from the community, exhibitors of universities and institutes, artists, together with Ms. Sabrina Ho Chiu Yeng, President of Chiu Yeng Cultural and Creative Industry Association; Mr. Mann Lao, Creative Director of Chiii Design; Ms. Hou Yanan, Chief Operating Officer of Poly Auction Macau Limited, were invited to witness the kick-off of these two remarkable events.

 

The third “Y Show” X “6075 Macau Hotel Art Fair” Opening Ceremony was officiated by government officials and celebrities including, Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of Macao SAR; Mr. Shao Bin, Assistant Director – General of Department of Publicity and Culture of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Ms. Mok Ian Ian, President of Cultural Affairs Bureau; Ms. Chan Tze Wai, Deputy Director of Macao Economic Bureau; Mr. Hoi Io Meng, Deputy Director of Macao Government Tourist Office; Mr. Kong Ngai, Acting Deputy Director of Education and Youth Affairs Bureau; Mr. Sam C.S. Lei, Executive Director of Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute; Ms. Davina Chu, Member of the Board of Administration of Cultural Industries Fund, Mr. Bernard Yiu, Senior Consultant – Marketing of Sociedade de Jogos de Macau S.A.; Mr. Michael T.C. Wang, Art Advisor of My Humble House Group; Ms. Sabrina Ho Chiu Yeng, President of Chiu Yeng Cultural and Creative Industry Association; Mr. Mann Lao, Creative Director of Chiii Design and Ms. Hou Yanan, Chief Operating Officer of Poly Auction Macau Limited. Honourable guests from local and overseas participants were also invited to the ceremony, including Mr. Benjamin HODGES, Assistant Professor of Department of Communications of the University of Macau; Ms. Wong Chi Kuan, Lecturer of School of Arts of the Macao Polytechnic Institute; Ms. Huang Guanghui, Associate Professor and Program Director of Faculty of Humanities and Arts of Macau University of Science and Technology; Ms. Filipa C.A. Martins de Abreu, Senior Lecturer of Faculty of Creative Industries Department of Design of University of Saint Joseph; Professor Wu Yao, Dean of Faculty of Innovation and Design of the City University of Macau; Ms. Christie Hoo, Vice President of The Y.Elites Association and Ms. Dong Xue, Artist of The Intermedia Studio, School of Arts, Renmin University of China.

 

Ms. Sabrina Ho Chiu Yeng, President of Chiu Yeng Cultural and Creative Industry Association, Founder of “Y Show” and “6075 Macau Hotel Art Fair”, commented that the “Y Show” has now been widely recognized throughout Greater Bay Area, Asia and Overseas after holding the annual event for three consecutive years. Besides inviting enterprises from locals and neighboring regions, the first introduced entrepreneurship activity provided graduates with the latest business entrepreneurship information and aims to encourage more young talents to develop career in the cultural and creative industries. Ms. Ho also added that the brand effect of “6075 Macau Hotel Art Fair” has attracted galleries and artists from 6 countries and regions to participate. In addition, the fair will collaborate with The Y.Elites Association and The Intermedia Studio, School of Arts, Renmin University of China, to launch the “Special Project” sector by presenting creative works of young artists to encourage academic interaction. Ms. Ho thanked all generous support from the community and she hopes that these two events can foster creativity and inspirations to the society and young people and encourage career development in creative industry. She believes that with the prosperous opportunities of the “Belt and Road Initiative” and “Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Bay Area Initiative”, the two exhibitions, “Y Show” and “6075 Macau Hotel Art Fair” will continue to grow and give contribution towards the development of the cultural and creative industries in Macau.

 

Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of Macao SAR, praised Chiu Yeng Culture on its exhibition concept. He stated that the “6075 Macau Hotel Art Fair” has given him inspiration for a new campaign of “Art Macau” which expects to be launched next year, aiming to forge all Macau hotels into art venue, thereby developing Macau to be the next art capital. Ms. Ho was highly appreciated by words shared by Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng, for which has given encouragement for the young generation and motivates Chiu Yeng Culture for future innovation.

 

Discover young talents in outstanding graduation works from around the world

 

The third “Y Show” and “6075 Macau Hotel Art Fair” will take place at Regency Art Hotel from 11th October to 14th October. The exhibition continuously gained active participation from five local universities and institutes: University of Macau, Macao Polytechnic Institute, Macau University of Science and Technology, University of Saint Joseph, and City University of Macau; and overseas participants: Federation of Hong Kong Industries, Design Council of Hong Kong, National Taiwan Normal University, Central Academy of Fine Arts, China Academy of Art, Shantou University, Kuwasawa Design School, Kyungsung University and Berlin University of the Arts. There are total of 100 pieces of art works showcased throughout the whole venue including 23 pieces of Product Design works, 8 pieces of Visual Arts works, 18 pieces of Spatial and Architecture Design works, 37 pieces of Visual Communication Design works, and 14 pieces of Digital Media Design works, bringing a fresh and new visual experience.

 

The third “Y Show” continues to establish the Outstanding Award in which an assessment committee formed by well-known design specialists from the Asia regions will select the top ten outstanding art works from a professional perspective. The assessment committee include Mr. Cui Shu, Founder of CUN Design; Mr. Jamy Yang, Founder of YANG DESIGN and YANG HOUSE; Mr. Tommy Li, Creative Director of Tommy Li Design Workshop Ltd.; Mr. Henry Chu, Founder and Creative Director of pill & pillow, Mr. Mann Lao and Ms. Sabrina Ho Chiu Yeng, Founders of “Y Show”. Meanwhile, enterprises would be taking part in the voting of “Innovative Entrepreneurship Award” and the award winner will be honored with an opportunity to be paired with an enterprise and produce a commercial product to promote design and commercial integration. The Award Ceremony will be held on 14thOctober (Sunday), to encourage and support young students on their efforts and enhance their confidence towards their future creation.

 

Create unique appreciation space to showcase the new power of art

 

“6075 Macau Hotel Art Fair” is the first art fair in Macau showcasing art works in hotel rooms, aims to attracted collectors and art lovers for art pieces of great potential by bringing creativity into the hotel rooms. The Third “6075 Macau Hotel Art Fair” attracted 18 galleries and 10 independent artists from 6 countries and regions including Macau, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mainland China, Malaysia and Myanmar to bring their best selected art works to integrate with the hotel rooms. This innovative way of displaying art through which audience can appreciate in varied angles and therefore stimulating more imagination and emotions to enrich their experience at the art fair. The fair also serves as a platform for international art exchange and sales, this promotes and supports the cultural arts development in Macau and provides an opportunity for young artists to showcase their talent.

 

Apart from the main “6075” sector – artists born after 1975, the third “6075 Macau Hotel Art Fair” collaborate with The Y.Elites Association and The Intermedia Studio, School of Arts, Renmin University of China by presenting creative works of young artists to encourage academic interaction. Meanwhile, the fair also collaborates with Dr. Stanley Ho Foundation presenting “Dr. Stanley Ho Foundation Art Award” to select potential young artists with outstanding performance. The Award Ceremony will be held on 14th October (Sunday), to support young artists on their future development and encouraging future creation.
