Poly Macau promotes the development of local art and culture, establishing an exchange platform for the cross-strait four regions young artists

On the 26th of October, the Poly Auction Macau Limited (“Poly Macau”) organized “The Poly Macau Press Conference” at the Regency Hotel Macau. At the press conference, Directors of Poly Macau, Mr. Bill Zhao, Ms. Angela Leong and Ms. Sabrina Ho presented to the media and the local artists a series of events organized by the Poly Macau. It includes different artistic events and the first auction plan, which will take place at the Regency Hotel Macau in January next year.

 

The Poly Macau was established at 2015 under the collaboration of “Poly Auction (Hong Kong) Limited” of Poly Culture Group and their Macau partner “Chiu Yeng Cultural Limited”. It is committed to become the most remarkable auction house and the leading art and culture communication center in Macau. In addition, the Poly Macau is aiming at promoting the flourishing development of Macau’s art and cultural market.

 

The Macao SAR Government has always been devoting to promote moderate economic diversification. The Macao SAR Government has attached a great importance to the development of cultural and creative industries in recent years, so a lot of resources and a full endorsement from the government have been put into these fields to diversify the development of tourism. Ms. Angela Leong, Director of Poly Macau, believed that since Macau’s economy had entered into an adjustment period, the cultural and artistic events organized by the Poly Macau would provide Macau with a good opportunity to develop the non-gaming elements and, thereby, this series of events not only can provide a good exchange platform for Macau artists, but also bring a striking scene to Macau. At that time, in addition to having the reputation of being the Las Vegas of the East, Macau can also earn the fame of being the capital of art of the East. In January next year, the Poly Macau will organize an exhibition “Hotel Thematic Invitational Exhibition”, which is planned by the contemporary well-known curator, Mr. Zhu Tong, for a period of about one month at the Regency Hotel Macau. The exhibition will introduce contemporary artworks to the leisure space of the hotel by presenting 20 pieces of selected artworks created by 10 contemporary Chinese artists. The opening of this event will provide the local artists and collectors with a good opportunity to have a closer contact with artist of the Mainland China. It will, moreover, integrate with the local tourism and cultural industries and will further enhance the foundation of the local culture and propel the development in the future.

 

Mr. Bill Zhao, Director of Poly Macau, showed his confidence of Macau’s auction market. He indicated that the Poly Group has been collaborating with Dr. Stanley Ho and Ms. Angela Leong for a long time and they both shared the same aspiration in culture and art. The collaboration with Ms. Angela Leong and Ms. Sabrina Ho, would effectively leverage its local influence and client resources in Hong Kong and Macau. By integrating the cultural characteristics and the activities of art and culture of Macau, Modern and Contemporary Art, Chinese Calligraphy and Painting, Ancient Works of Art and other businesses would be launched. Businesses like Jewels, Watches, Designer Handbags and other businesses will be also launched at the same time. The Poly Macau will organize their first auction plan in Macau from the 7-10 January next year. A total of approximately 150 artworks are all rigorously selected according to the Poly Auction’s fundamental principle to select only genuine, exquisite and rare artwork. The artworks will include Chinese and Asian Modern and Contemporary Art, Jewels and Luxury Goods, Fine Modern Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy and Chinese Ancient Works of Art and all will be displayed to locals and international collectors at Macau. Ms. Sabrina Ho, Director and Chief Executive Officer of Poly Macau, will lead a team of experts to visit collectors and conduct a consignment campaign at Beijing, Shanghai, and Taipei.

 

In order to promote the development of cultural and creative industries and establishing an exchange platform of art for young artists, Poly Macau will organize the “Hotel Art Fair” from the 7-10 of January next year. 60 artists born after 1975 from the Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau were invited to present their own exhibition in the hotel guest room which is decorated with the artists’ artworks. All of the 60 guest rooms exhibited in the “Hotel Art Fair” are designed by Ms. Sabrina Ho and through the presentation of the artworks of every single individual artist, different art designs are embedded into the space of the hotel. The artists’ works bring vividness to the room, and will lead to explore the dialogue between art and space. Every time visitors enter into a room, they will be surrounded by a fresh artistic sense, and feel like they are communicating with the artists and their works directly. This living space has become an entire maze of art with the perfect combination of the space, the artists, the artworks, and the visitors which brings a unique art exhibition experience to Macau. This event has gained the sponsorship from the Dr. Stanley Ho Foundation, and various art awards are set up in order to commend the outstanding artist as well as identify the young artists with great potential.

 

Ms. Sabrina Ho, Director and Chief Executive Officer of Poly Macau, stated that the concept of artistic hotel had been leading the trend and she hoped that the “Hotel Art Fair” would create a positive impact on the development of art and culture in Macau and at the same time, provided a brand-new exchange platform and an opportunity to broaden their views of art to the local young artists.

 

In the future, Poly Macau will actively support the policy guidelines of the Macao SAR Government and to promote the non-gaming and diversification development of Macau. Hence, by the continuous introduction of more artistic and cultural elements, an international platform for the development of art and culture of Macau will be established.
